High School Students who Obtain their Own Electronic Vapor Products by Buying Them in a Store

This indicator shows the percentage of high school students under 18 years of age who currently use electronic vapor products who usually get their own products by buying them in a store.

Why is this important?

Health behavior patterns formed in adolescence play a crucial role in health throughout life. Those who start smoking young are more likely to have a long-term addiction to nicotine than people who start smoking later in life, putting them at greater risk for smoking-related illness and death. Tobacco use begins and is established primarily during adolescence; preventing adolescent tobacco use is critical to ending the tobacco epidemic in the United States.
